The vast records collection at the Morrow-based National Archives at Atlanta includes documents and photos produced at two facilities that played key roles in the Apollo 11 mission: The Kennedy Space Center's launch facilities at Cape Canaveral, Fla. and the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
For the people who were alive at the time, 50 years hasn't erased the memories of where they were and what they felt when they saw the lunar landing happening on live TV.
Along with people from around the world, I watched the lunar landing on television, July 20, 1969, fulfilling President Kennedy's goal of putting a man on the moon by the end of that decade.
